Driving High-Performance Windows and Doors in New Zealand
Over the past three decades, STÄRKE has firmly established itself as a leader in New Zealand's joinery market, initially specialising in aluminium joinery. Recognising the increasing demand for superior thermal performance and sustainability, STÄRKE expanded its offering with Ambiance uPVC, a dedicated division focusing exclusively on high-performance uPVC window and door systems. Key to this expansion has been a strategic partnership with aluplast, a global leader renowned for its innovative uPVC technology, partnerships and responsiveness.
STÄRKE’s vision has always centred around enhancing comfort through performance-driven solutions. Commercial Director Ken Pridham highlights, "We are a performance company, not just a window and door company. Our focus is to provide a better lived-in experience for all clients.”
Since adopting aluplast’s Ideal 4000 series, STÄRKE’s vision has become more focused. "We’re doubling down on uPVC," Pridham explains. "We are committed to making it available to all Kiwis. Everyone deserves to experience more comfort."

STÄRKE’s advanced manufacturing capabilities, underpinned by automation and integrated software, differentiate it significantly within New Zealand’s joinery market. From client consultation to final installation, each step is carefully managed. Initial client demonstrations of Ambiance uPVC solutions lead to precision manufacturing in STÄRKE's automated plant, ensuring consistent quality and efficiency.
"Our automated processes provide precision and efficiency unmatched by traditional fabrication," notes Pridham. "Our integrated capabilities—from powder-coating to installation—uniquely position us to streamline supply and uphold strict quality control."
STÄRKE’s success relies heavily on its skilled team, thoroughly trained in uPVC manufacturing. "Cross-training and real-time quality assurance ensure every team member understands the importance of their role," Pridham states. This approach guarantees consistent quality assurance from production through to final handover.
STÄRKE’s partnership with aluplast was founded on several criteria: familiarity with Australasian standards, regional support capabilities, innovation readiness, and responsiveness. Crucially, both companies share similar values and vision, reinforcing aluplast as an ideal strategic partner.
"aluplast’s German engineering and process, from software, design and manufacturing is so different from traditional NZ fabrication methodology.
“It has completely reshaped how we view thermal efficiency, airtightness, and durability," Pridham emphasises. "We have gone from being a regular NZ fabricator to being passionate about these issues that enable New Zealanders to experience more comfort.”
The strength of the partnership was showcased in a complex Waikato show home project, which won a national design award for NZ Designer Homes. The ambitious project, involving intricate raking windows and advanced sliding doors, was successfully delivered through close coordination with aluplast.
"Rapid decisions, expert advice, and shared determination created an exceptional outcome," Pridham recalls. "This exemplifies the value of partnering with a company like aluplast, which prioritises relationships and efficiency."

STÄRKE’s Ambiance uPVC range has achieved notable milestones, particularly in challenging PassivHaus-certified projects. "A home in the shadow of Mt Ruapehu and a ski hut atop the Southern Alps demonstrate aluplast systems' exceptional performance," says Pridham. "Architects and end-users consistently highlight their satisfaction with the comfort and quality these installations provide."
Sustainability and regulatory compliance are central to STÄRKE’s operations. Using aluplast’s recyclable profiles, STÄRKE now maintains under 5% production waste. This significantly aligns with New Zealand's stringent H1 energy regulations and broader sustainability objectives.
“We’re committed to recycling and creating a circular manufacturing economy. The recyclability of the aluplast profiles means that we are now down to under 5% wastage from our factory with all our uPVC reused in ground pipes and other applications.”
The ongoing partnership between STÄRKE and aluplast demonstrates the power of shared values, responsiveness, and mutual innovation. Pridham summarises: "Our collaboration with aluplast continues to strengthen and deepen, empowering us to innovate and grow, transforming New Zealand’s approach to uPVC windows and doors."
