Ian Cocken has joined aluplast as Director of Sales and Marketing, as part of the German systems house’s ambitious plans to expand its presence in the UK.
Cocken’s appointment reforms a partnership with Keith White, aluplast’s Managing Director in the UK, having worked together at conservatory systems company Wendland and also within the Epwin Group’s Systems Division.
Cocken’s first job in the systems industry came twenty years earlier with Permacell Finesse, part of the CEGO Group. Joining Wendland in 2000, Cocken later worked within the sales team at Bowater, before joining the leading conservatory systems house Quantal.
He moved with Quantal to Ultraframe in 2012 following its acquisition from Epwin, leaving the company in summer this year [2015] to join aluplast.
Cocken said: “On a global scale aluplast is the fourth largest extruder of PVC-U but its presence in the UK remains comparatively small. That represents a significant opportunity for aluplast but also those customers coming on board now.
“The product offer is excellent and there are some exciting product development plans in place for the early part of 2016.
“The ambition within the business and level of commitment aluplast is making to the UK market is incredible. We’re able to offer fabricators access to the very real benefits of cutting edge innovation and the technical benefits that go with that.”
Processing more than 150,000 tonnes of PVC-U annually in Europe, equivalent to 75 per cent of the whole UK and Irish markets combined and with its worldwide customer base manufacturing more than 10million windows per year, aluplast remains a global leader in window system technology.
The company’s core range in the UK and Ireland is built around the Ideal 70 system. This draws down on aluplast’s investment to offer one of the industry’s most energy efficient five chamber PVC-U systems.
With a choice of 24mm to 44mm glazing options, the slim line ovolo profile, easily accommodates triple-glazed systems, with triple-glazed options achieving a low U-Value with standard components. This allows it to comfortably achieve a WERs A++ rating.
Keith White, Managing Director of aluplast’s in the UK, said: “It’s great to have Ian on board. We have worked together in the past and he brings incredible enthusiasm, drive, expertise but above all commitment to customer service to the role.”
